Cel Analytical Inc. (Cel-A) is a certified environmental laboratory offering full service chemistry, microbiology, and molecular biology testing for environmental samples. Cel-A uses quantitative real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR) for the amplification of DNA/RNA to provide our clients with faster and more accurate pathogen identification than traditional microbiological methods.
Through routine monitoring of surface water and drinking water at the local and state level, Cel-A ensures that our clients comply with EPA requirements defined in the ‘Total Coliform Rule’ and the ‘Surface Water Treatment Rule
Cell Culture Systems
Cel-A currently offers tissue culture assay(s) for evaluating cytotoxicity of biological contaminants in food and environmental samples.
Chemical analysis are performed on a variety of environmental matrix types, including soil, water, sediment/biosolids.
Cel Analytical is proud to be one of five national laboratories awarded a contract by the EPA to perform testing for the viral contaminants required by UCMR3 (Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule 3), a mandatory public water testing program.

Cel-A is certified as a Woman-owned Business Enterprise (WBE), as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) by the California Unified Certification Program (CUCP), and as a Local Business Enterprise (LBE) in the City and County of San Francisco. Working with us can help our clients meet the WBE, DBE, or LBE requirements specified for federal, state, and local procurement programs.
Since 2007, Cel-A has worked closely with the Community College of San Francisco (CCSF) to develop and launch an Environmental Monitoring program. Designed to train the next generation of environmental technicians, this interdisciplinary program focuses on hands-on laboratory and field investigations. To date, Cel-A has provided hands on training to 17 CCSF interns graduating from the program.
